Holiday Break Reading Challenge Activity #16

Online Book Communities

This issue has been bugging me for a while.  Goodreads, LibraryThing, Shelfari - UGH!  Check out my blog post from July 2009.  I regularly update Goodreads because I think it is much easier to use than the other two communities.  Shelfari is too image based and sometimes takes too long to load on the computer and LibaryThing isn't as user-friendly.  But, LibraryThing has much better blog widgets, but they don't work on my Wordpress blog anyway.  My goal in July was to keep all three communities up-to-date, but I was a total failure.

What I want to find out is how many of you have profiles on these online book communities?

Your task for this Activity is to take the survey from the link on this post. A winner will be chosen from the ones who fill out the survey.

  1. Um I don't see a link to a survey? Is it obvious and I'm just bad?

  4. I took the survey. I think I might have made profiles on some of the sites but I never went back and actually used them. For me it just added one more thing to do and place to go and that just wasn't in the cards.

  6. I thought that I had accounts at GoodReads and Shelfari too but my usual email and password didn't bring them up. I must have just thought I had accounts there. I spend a lot of time on my LibraryThing. The thought of re-entering 4300 books somewhere else is too daunting to even consider.

  7. Kathy, you can export your library from LibraryThing and then import the document into another online book community.
